Mary S. Adams is one of our longest serving Board Members and has been active and involved since 2003, serving as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-Chairwoman, and Chairwoman multiple times throughout her tenure.
Mary, a lifelong resident of Washington Parish, resides in Varnado, Louisiana. She has been married to Chief Louis Adams of the Varnado Police Dept. since 2003. They have two children and three grandchildren. She is a member of Varnado Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary is an honor graduate of Bogalusa High School Class of 1975. She was employed at First State Bank in Bogalusa for many years and then a stay at home mom to raise her two daughters. In 1994, she became operator, manager of Varnado Waterworks and Bogue Lusa Waterworks Districts. She has passed numerous courses in water system production, distribution and treatment and holds many certifications in water. In 1999, Mary was honored by Louisiana Rural Water Association as outstanding office person of the year.
In 2001, Mary decided to run for public office and served as an Alderman for the Village of Varnado, where she successfully served for five years before resigning to run for Washington Parish School Board in 2006. Mary served as a successful member of the Washington Parish School Board.
Mary also served as Clerk of the Village of Varnado for many years handling the books and accounting.
